NATO Night 2022: Challenge Accepted
On Thursday April 7, 2022, the Netherlands Atlantic Youth will again organize its annual NATO Night!
This year’s theme revolves all around the most prominent challenges facing NATO and its member states today and in the near future.
The evening will be divided into two parts. After a conversation with our keynote speaker (to be announced), there will be two panel discussions with experts on areas such as transatlantic relations, climate change, and cyber warfare.
New threats: NATO’s responsibility?
The first panel focuses on new challenges emerging on the world stage. This covers a broad range of topics such as climate change, (climate) refugees, and the use of migration as a tool in international power politics. These future threats have the capacity to destabilize the global world order: they form immense challenges not only beyond NATO territory but also amongst its members. To what extent does NATO have a role to play in tackling threats of the future?
NATO Beyond Borders
Not all developments and challenges emerge directly at the border of NATO territory. Therefore, the second panel, NATO Beyond Borders, will go beyond material threats, exploring not only the space and cyber domain of NATO, but also other cross-border developments such as privatization of the military and the threat of disinformation.
Regarding uncertainty around the development of the COVID-19 pandemic, NATO Night 2022 will be a hybrid event. This means there are only limited spaces available for those who wish to attend the evening in person, so sign up quickly if you wish to attend the event on location in Amsterdam.
Further details about the schedule and the specific speakers attending NATO Night will follow swiftly, so make sure to keep an eye out on our website and social media.
