On Thursday, October 21, 2021 the Netherlands Atlantic Association will organize a program titled:
What is the future United States’ role on the world stage?
What is the direction of American global leadership after the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and the diplomatic row with France on AUKUS, the defense deal between Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom? To what extent is the US shifting away from Europe, politically, diplomatically and militarily? Will America continue to pivot to Asia? And what does it mean for Western relations with China and Russia and Europe’s position? In short, how was President Biden’s first year on the world stage and what to expect in the future?
US foreign policy expert General David H. Petraeus (ret.), former commander of the allied forces in Afghanistan and Iraq and former CIA Director, will share his views in a wide-ranging interview with Robert van de Roer, diplomatic expert, on Thursday, October 21 (from 15:00-16:00 CEST). General Petraeus will join us via an interactive video link.
The interview will be a ‘hybrid’ program. You are very welcome at the venue to join the floor discussion. The program will be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook.
- You may submit your questions beforehand on the registration form before October 19th .
- The deadline for registration for the program is October 15.
- After registration will receive a confirmation by email. A streaming link will be sent on Wednesday, October 20th.
