On Thursday, May 23rd, the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) and the Netherlands Atlantic Youth organise a program themed:
Energy and Geopolitics
Nord Stream II
Nord Stream II - the new pipeline that is to be transporting Russian gas to Germany - divides the international community. Since the onset of this project, the enthusiasm for this project has shifted in many countries. Themes like Russian agression in Ukraine, the shift towards clean energy in Europe, and the shut down of the gas field in Groningen converge in this geopolitical debate.
Whereas the Netherlands and Germany are steadfast about the economic nature of the project, President Trump does not hesitate to show his dissatisfation about the convergence of economic and security interests towards Russia.
On May 23rd, KIVI - Koninklijk Instituut Van Ingenieurs and Jonge Atlantici gather experts from Clingendael and RaamopRusland Kennis Analyse Debat and German and U.S. voices together on stage to discuss the different viewpoints and the way forward.
