Balancing Security: Nuclear Dynamics in the Middle East

Jonge Atlantici event on security dynamics in the Middle East

In the Middle East, geopolitical, security, and nuclear issues are deeply intertwined. What do recent developments in the region mean for regional security dynamics and international relations? What role does Iran’s nuclear program play — and how are the United States and the European Union responding?
On 25 November, Jonge Atlantici will host an event on security dynamics in the Middle East, with particular attention to Iran’s nuclear program, the role of the US and the EU, and the implications for regional and international security.
During this session, three experts will engage in a discussion on the key challenges and emerging trends shaping the region: Elmar Hellendoorn, Strategic Advisor and Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, Niels van Willigen, Professor of International Security Studies at the Netherlands Defence Academy, and Máté Szalai, Research Fellow at Clingendael Institute. The panel will be moderated by Tugche Veys, Junior Lecturer at Leiden University, and the keynote speech will be delivered by Ingeborg Denissen, Deputy Director Security Policy at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Please note: this event will be held in English.
