Public Meeting: NATO's Re-pivot to Europe?

On Monday April 23rd the Netherlands Atlantic Association organized a public meeting in Nieuwe of Littéraire Sociëteit de Witte in The Hague themed:

NATO’s Re-pivot to Europe?
Questions and Opportunities in a New Era

In 2009 the Obama Administration announced the so-called ‘pivot’ to the Asia-Pacific region. In response to emerging security challenges in Central Europe and Ukraine in particular, the United States has recently committed itself heavily and unconditionally to a series of training activities, troop exercises, and troop deployments in Europe.

During this meeting the latest developments and the consequences for the Dutch armed forces will be discussed. First, professor Hoffenaar will outline the historical context and scene setting. Then, Major General McGuire will talk about US Army Europe, after which Brigadier General Tak discusses the challenges, changes and opportunities for the Dutch military.

Read a report of the meeting here. A video report will be published shortly.
