The War on Terror and transatlantic relations
Within the last ten years, the War on Terror affected transatlantic relations in a unifying as well as a divisive way. The positive side is that the transatlantic allies have developed a wide range of cooperative approaches for dealing with the threat of international terrorism, such as the new NATO Strategic Concept. However, Stanley R. Sloan argues that future transatlantic cooperation against terrorist threats will remain troubled by the many historical factors, domestic political circumstances and a lack of military capabilities.
