New Cold War or Unfinished Post-Cold War Settlement?

It is safe to say that the Cold War still resonates today. Russia’s interests for influence in Eastern Europe remains while the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty has been abrogated. The end of the Cold War in 1989 heralded a new era, by some called the ‘New Cold War’. This new era also brought a new kind of historiography; New Cold War History. In this introduction of the special Cold War issue, Laurien Crump introduces New Cold War History and shows why this new kind of historiography is very much alive.
