EU-China relations
China and the EU show major differences, especially in relation to the political structures. Nevertheless since 1975, the relationship between the EU and China has been developing. Both partners consider it as strategic. According to Matthias Stepan and Falk Ostermann, a strategic relationship implies a long-term plan to achieve high-ranking and common objectives. This leads the authors to the main question: how strategic is the relationship between the EU and China? Matthias Stepan and Falk Ostermann argue that the relationship is not strategic, because of the lack of shared objectives.
