Consensus in the face of ‘no compromise’
According to Damon Shelby Porter, Obama must win the elections (2012) with a clear and convincing mandate, if he wishes to be successful. His presidency has been marked with political rivalry which has made bipartisan leadership impossible. That is why Porter argues the following: ‘President Obama has no choice but to return to the same message of national unity in 2012 if he wants to win and get things done.’
