Ballistic missile defence. NATO’s European Phased Adaptive Approach

In this article from 2013, James Fergusson examines the origins of NATO’s ballistic missile defense (BMD) program, its current approach, American and European developments, and Russia’s position. With various countries developing ballistic missiles and/or nuclear weapons, BMD has become a priority for the U.S and NATO. According to Fergusson, while the European Phased Adaptive Approach (EPAA) provides a relatively clear roadmap for the future, the final end state of a strategic defense for Europe under NATO command is difficult to predict.
