A blessing in disguise. Ukraine and the future of European-Russian relations

Europe must recognize that the liberal EU is a threat to Putin’s domestic control, Tomas Ries argues. As a response, Russia is following a policy of increased military expenditure whereas the West still lacks unity. Luckily, Ries argues, it is not too late for the West to rearm itself. Yet, the West must act quickly against what Ries calls ‘authoritarian Russia’.
