At the NATO Summit in Chicago, on 20 and 21 May 2012, four main issues will be on the table:
- a strategic plan for NATO’s continued engagement in Afghanistan;
- the Alliance’s appropriate mix of capabilities (conventional, nuclear and missile defence);
- an interim operational capability for NATO’s territorial missile defence;
- a reaffirmation of partnerships both on the European continent and across the Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
