NATO-Russia Relations after the Georgian Conflict

After the war of August 2008 between Russia and Georgia NATO froze most of its cooperation with Moscow. Despite the recent thaw in relations Russia expert Marcel de Haas (Clingendael Institute, The Hague) argues that there are many more opportunities to further improve relations.

Energy Cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region: Caught between ‘Modernism’ and ‘Post-modernism’?

The Baltic states seek to integrate their energy markets into the European network in order to decrease dependence on Russia. Researcher Jeroen Bult (University of Tallinn, Estonia) finds that thus far this has been a frustrating affair, since each Baltic state continues to scrupulously defend its national interests.
