The Atlantic Education Committee (AOC) develops activities for secondary education within the framework of the aims of the Netherlands Atlantic Association. The Education Committee promotes interest in security-related issues by organising meetings and publishing educational material.
Activities organised by the Education Committee include an annual education conference in February, and a security-related seminar in November. The Education Committee also organises study trips abroad for secondary school teachers.
Under the auspices of the Education Committee, so-called ‘Web Sheets’ are published regularly. Web Sheets are digital Fact Sheets for secondary school pupils on topical subjects that are published on this website. Recent topics include Energy and Security, NATO after the Cold War and Vietnam. Later this year updated Web Sheets on the EU and European Security, the Caucasus and the Balkans will be published.
The activities and publications of the Atlantic Education Committee are mainly aimed at Dutch secondary school teachers and pupils. However, the Committee occasionally cooperates in international projects such as the Aliante project and education projects of the Atlantic Treaty Association.
